Carnival cruise my dinning room attire for 3 nights: is this ok?

I just got back from a Carnival cruise We had a 5 day cruise with one elegent night. I wore dress pants, dress shirt and tie, which is common. Some people have suits or tuxedos on. The other nights we ate at the buffet. More food variety with less wait!!
