What is that scientist who make contraption things?

Ok, so I dont know how to exactly explain this... But in our science cl we had to get a marble into a cup by making it go through like tubes and for them to hit dominoes and stuff... It has a specific name but I can't think of it. Its named from a scientist. Can you help me?
