Can Americans take leaves of absence from work?

Alot of it depends on your employer - some offer better benefit packages than others. But there are also Federal options such as the FMLA or Family Medical Leave Act that allow specific time frames for LOAs. My employer offers maternity/paternity leave, sick leave, family sick leave, and alot of more specific types. It all deoends on your employer.
